Introduction

Each of us carries inherent worth, unique qualities, values, and contributions that make us an essential part of our school community. At the same time, we are on an ongoing spiritual quest, exploring purpose, meaning, and growth in ways that shape how we show up for ourselves and others.

This exercise invites you to visualize the connections between your inherent worth and your personal journey of growth. Recognize how your value fuels your quest, and how your quest deepens your understanding of your worth. Take your time, reflect honestly, and let this map guide you toward insight, connection, and intention.

Materials:

  • Large paper, journal page, or index cards

  • Pens, colored pencils, or markers

  • Optional: stickers, post-it notes, or small tokens

Step 1: Center – Recognizing Your Inherent Worth

  • Draw a circle in the center of your page.

  • Inside, write or draw qualities, strengths, values, and unique contributions that define you.

    • Examples: “Empathetic listener,” “Creative thinker,” “Committed to fairness,” “Curious learner.”

  • Optional: Add colors, symbols, or shapes that feel meaningful.

Reflect:
"What makes me inherently valuable and unique in my school community and beyond?"

Step 2: Connections – Linking to Others

  • Around your central circle, draw circles or lines connecting you to people, groups, or communities that matter to you.

  • Inside each circle or along each line, note:

    • How they see your worth

    • How you see their worth

    • Moments of mutual respect, support, or inspiration

Reflect:
"Who and what in my life reminds me of my value? How do I honor the value of others in return?"

Step 3: Pathways – Mapping Your Spiritual Quest

  • Draw arrows, paths, or winding roads extending outward from your central circle.

  • Label each path with aspects of your spiritual or personal growth journey:

    • Areas you are exploring (purpose, resilience, meaning, vocation)

    • Practices that support your growth (reflection, meditation, mentorship, ethical decision-making)

    • Insights or lessons you’ve learned

  • Include milestones, questions, or intentions along the path.

    Reflect:
"What is my ongoing journey of inner growth and purpose? How does nurturing my own quest help me support my students and community?"

Step 4: Integration – Connecting Worth and Quest

  • Look for intersections between your inherent worth and your spiritual quest.

  • Draw lines, shapes, or symbols connecting qualities in your center circle to growth paths, showing how your value fuels your purpose and growth, and how your quest deepens your understanding of your own worth.

Reflect:
"How does recognizing my value enhance my journey of growth and vice versa? What patterns or insights emerge when I visualize these connections?"

Step 5: Reflection and Next Steps

  • Write a brief reflection:

    • “One insight I discovered about my inherent worth…”

    • “One aspect of my spiritual quest I want to explore further…”

    • “One action I can take this week to honor both my worth and growth…”

Optional: Use colors or symbols to differentiate:

  • Blue = personal worth qualities

  • Green = relationships and community connections

  • Yellow = spiritual quest or growth paths
