Pick 2-3 of the ideas below to try out this week to begin to develop your spiritual nurturing toolbox.
Ideas to help you nurture your spirit and others’ spirits:
Request that loved ones write letters to you as surprises throughout the year.
Write a letter to yourself to open up in a difficult school moment.
Do this as a faculty or unit (could also have faculty write each other letters).
Place the following quote (or a more meaningful quote for you) on a mirror that you look into each day with the words:
“Being in the image of God means that each human being is born with three intrinsic dignities—infinite value, equality, and uniqueness. These dignities are mine, and yours, and everybody’s...” -Rabbi Yitz Greenberg
“THIS APPLIES TO YOU!”
Write out your chosen values on your binder or notebook so that you can use your values to ground you in every difficult decision.
Make a list of your top 10 favorite stories to look at when you feel overwhelmed. They will remind you of the impact your school has on your community.
Identify the people who will bring you into their “joy circle” and tell them that you are asking them to consciously pull you in for the “dance party” when they deem it necessary.
Pick a time in your day when you will not have to make any decisions except for absolute emergencies; ensure everyone is aware of this sacred time.
Make time to call and/or be with the people you love.
