Welcome to ASI: Our Approach to this Program
Welcome to the Awakened Schools Institute. Whether you are a chaplain, a teacher, an administrator, a counselor, or any adult who cares deeply about creating a spiritually supportive school culture, we are glad you have joined us on this journey. Our sincere hope for you is to complete this educational experience with deep understanding and a purposeful approach to supporting your own school community in their transformation.
As you complete each module, we hope you experience our ‘head, heart, and hands’ approach to learning.
Throughout this program, you will engage deeply with the scientific research that underpins spiritually supportive school cultures. From neuroscience and developmental psychology to evidence-based practices in social-emotional learning and contemplative education, each module illuminates how spiritual development enhances student well-being, academic engagement, and community connection. You’ll gain a clear understanding of the “why” behind this work—grounding your leadership in data, theory, and proven outcomes.
In every module, you’ll experience spiritual practices, reflective activities, and embodied exercises firsthand. These aren’t just ideas to study—they’re invitations to awaken. Through journaling, guided meditations, storytelling, and community dialogue, you’ll explore your own spiritual development while discovering models you can bring into your classroom and professional community. The goal is to nurture your inner life as an educator and to cultivate environments where others can do the same.
By the end of this program, you’ll walk away with a robust, ready-to-use toolkit of practices and activities designed to foster spiritual growth in your school community. From classroom rituals and staff meeting templates to student-led initiatives and whole-school frameworks, you’ll be equipped to translate insight into action. These tools are adaptable, inclusive, and grounded in both research and lived experience—empowering you to lead with clarity, compassion, and courage.
